Default Easier way to upload multiple files after an upgrade?

Hi, i have successfully upgraded my mediawiki software from version 1.4 to 1.9.

    Problem: my images don't display.

    mediawiki 1.9.1
    mysql 5.0.26
    php 5.0.2 (apache2handler)

I saved a copy of the images folder and have moved it to the directory of the new installation.

When i go to Special Pages > File List, mediawiki knows that the images are there (...as if they've previously been uploaded. On the same page, the image even appears if you click on the file link for that image.) but it does not display the image where it is supposed to.

Is it necessary for me to upload every single image again? Or is there a way this can this be done with less effort? Im aware that there is a multiple file uploader extension for mediawiki, but id prefer to do a simple copy and paste if possible.

    Cheers.

You might try running rebuildImages.php in the maintenance directory.

I know that when I moved hosts the images also broke. My wiki saved all the images in subfolders at one host, but after moving the wiki, I had to move all of the images to the root of the images folder and they loaded fine.

That sounds like the setting of $wgHashedUploadDirectory got changed from true to false in the switch.

Yes, I thought about that after I had already copied all of the images to the root of the images folder.

I started by running rebuildimages.php and rebuildall.php, but it didn't seem to do anything for me.

However, setting $wgHashedUploadDirectory to false and moving all images to the image root worked a treat! Cheers
