Installing extensions corrupts mediawiki

I have upgraded Mediawiki to 1.11.0 on gentoo linux.

Under the previous install 1.9.x I had several extension which were working fine. I hvae attempted to install them in the latest version (entering relevant lines into LocalSettings.php) however when I then go to my wiki and navigate to any page, nothing is displayed (ie a blank page).

I then went back to basics and have downloaded the latest version of one extension (CategoryTree) using svn and enabled in in the LocalSettings.php, however the same issue remains - blank page.

Has something changed in the latest version of mediawiki?
Am I missing something obvious or do I need to enable some other functionality in LocalSettings.php?
Perhaps something related to the permissions of the relevant directories (although nothing has changed there since it was working under the previous version.

It is quite frustrating and I would appreciate some feedback to resolve me delima.

Enable PHP error logging and see what the error is.

Craig -- I received a PM from a client I'm working with who is having a similar problem with CategoryTree. If we get it resolved, I'll let you know, but right now it looks like CategoryTree isn't functioning properly with version 1.11.x

Don't know why yet.... I think it's conflicting with another extension he has installed, but I haven't figured out which one.
